Attention Lakewood businesses: It’s that time of year again as we are gear up for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2. National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community event designed to build a healthier, safer city; to generate support for anti-crime programs; and to strengthen the police/community relationship. NNO consists of small neighborhood block parties in neighborhoods or at businesses where community members have an opportunity to get to know one another, and visits by police agents give the police an opportunity to connect with community members, answer questions or address concerns. Events can consist of barbecues, potlucks, or even ice cream socials. If you hosted a party last year, we would like to thank you for your participation. If you have not yet participated, this is the year to get involved. Please visit Lakewood.org/NNO to register. Due to the high demand, the Police Department has expanded the number of events it can support this year from 40 to 50, so don’t miss out. Register your event today!
