Quiet Crossings, con't.
RTD’s attorney is reviewing the decision, but on first glance it looks as though the judge has ruled that RTD has approval to run quiet through the crossings (no horns, no train level bells on gates). There will be a pedestrian specific, low level audible signals that will be required on the crossings to alert pedestrians of approaching trains.
The judge is requiring flexibility in the loudness of pedestrian level signal to allow for field adjustments once they are installed. The intent is for pedestrians to be able to hear the warning bells without disturbing the adjacent neighbors. This is a “Recommended Decision”. It will become the PUC Commission’s order if no one objects within the next 20 days. We don’t expect anyone to object.
