Construction Update, con't

Tree Trimming and Removal

Any trees that are on public or private property that have limbs overhanging into the RTD right-of-way will also require trimming. As we're now at the 100% design stage, identification of the vegetation that needs to be removed has been finalized. You may notice trees and vegetation being removed from the RTD right-of-way as the contractor "clears and grubs" areas before construction or utility relocations begin.

Utility Upgrades

Lakewood Sanitary Sewer’s system upgrades are complete and Consolidated Mutual Water’s relocation project should be done by early spring. Qwest, Comcast and Xcel Energy continue their relocation activities along the light rail line. To see a current schedule for their utility relocations, click here

Lakewood Dry Gulch

Crews from Edward Kraemer and Sons will soon be departing the Lakewood Dry Gulch, as both light rail bridges have reached substantial completion. However, new crews will soon be moving into the same general area gearing up to begin work on the retaining walls on the bridge approaches and to begin gulch improvements.

Crews are currently pouring the pier caps (tops of columns) on the pedestrian bridges at Tennyson Street and Hazel Court. The “superstructures” for these bridges are being fabricated off site and will be placed by early-summer.
